Pre-Kindergarten II
4 and 5 year olds
The alphabet, colors, numbers and shapes are the first skills children must master before they can move onto more challenging activities. In the Pre-Kindergarten II class we will continue to strengthen the foundation of the basics by mastering letters and letter recognition as well as numbers and numeral recognition.
We will also introduce, reinforce and review phonetic concepts and skills as a foundation for reading and comprehension. Children will build their pre-reading skills while practicing handwriting and following directions. We will focus on basic phonetic skills, such as initial and final consonants short and long vowels, and blending consonants.
We will continue to offer a non-denominational, child friendly, Christian based study which focuses on the principals of the New and Old Testament by reading, discussing and creating take home bible stories.
We will offer basic reasoning comprehension and sequencing activities needed for developing skills to help build a foundation for success in math.
More advanced work on computer skills and continuing the use of the learning and literacy center.
During open play a variety of educational centers will be available which will challenge and exercise their imagination and creativity. Communication skills, socialization and basic reasoning will become a part of their daily routine.
